WORLD CUP SIMULATION
Your draft is done — now simulate the tournament. Understand how matches are decided, what squad average you need, and why penalty shootouts ruin galáctico teams.
HOW SIMULATION WORKS
After completing your 11-player draft, 7a0 simulates a full FIFA World Cup format: 3 group stage matches, then a knockout bracket (Round of 16 → Quarter-finals → Semi-finals → Final).
You cannot make tactical decisions during matches. Results are calculated automatically based on your squad's ratings, formation balance, play style, and some randomness. Draws in knockout rounds go to penalties.
TOURNAMENT PHASES
Group Stage (3 matches)
Your team plays 3 group matches. You need to survive this stage — many star-heavy teams with weak full-backs exit here despite high averages.
Knockout Rounds
Round of 16, quarter-finals, and semi-finals. Opponents get tougher. Squad depth and goalkeeper quality matter more than having one 99-rated striker.
The Final
Win the final to complete your run. You'll receive a detailed results card with wins, goals scored, and your share code. The iconic 7–0 scoreline is extremely rare — most winning runs are 2–0 or 3–1 finals.
WHAT AFFECTS MATCH RESULTS
Squad Average Rating
The single biggest factor. Teams above 90 average win most tournaments. Below 85, expect an early knockout exit.
Goalkeeper Rating
GK rating heavily influences penalty shootouts and tight matches. Neuer, Buffon, and Martínez can win finals alone.
Formation Balance
A balanced formation with quality in every line outperforms top-heavy teams with weak full-backs.
Play Style
Offensive teams score more but concede more. Defensive teams grind out narrow wins. Balanced is safest.
Randomness
Upsets happen. A 92-rated team can lose a group match. This is why every run feels unique.
PENALTY SHOOTOUTS
Knockout matches that end in a draw are decided by penalties. Your goalkeeper's rating is the primary factor. This is why forum players report losing semi-finals despite having Messi and Ronaldo — a weak GK loses shootouts.
Always prioritize drafting an elite goalkeeper (85+ rating) even if it means passing on a famous forward from the same roll.
SQUAD AVERAGE TARGETS
Pro tip: Full-backs are the most undervalued position. Forum players report that teams with elite forwards but 75-rated full-backs consistently lose in the knockout stages. Draft Cafu, Roberto Carlos, or Thuram when they appear.
